PSJ #16 — Kirby Winfield & Kelly Wright, More Spreadsheet

Here’s your latest PSJ — an insider take on Seattle startups and the people behind them.

🎧 New Podcasts:

Two fresh interviews for you this week.

Kelly Breslin Wright led sales from $0 to $850M over 12 years at Tableau. Now she’s a board director at Fastly, Lucid, Even, and Amperity.

So much to learn from her and we’re lucky to have her in our community. The book she keeps coming back to is the classic How to Win Friends and Influence People.

Kirby Winfield (Ascend.vc) has quickly become one of the most prolific pre-seed investors in Seattle.

I did not expect the conversation to immediately get into his story about being over-weight and unhappy. But that’s where we started. And it was remarkable how his external journey and internal struggles have shaped the way he shows up for founders. The book he keeps coming back to is Adrift: Seventy-six Days Lost at Sea.

📊 Startup Tracker Updates:

I added a field to the spreadsheet for Last Funding Date. This wasn’t in the spreadsheet before, but a few people had asked.

When sorting by recency of funding, I was surprised by the wide range of industries and business models.
